Question: What is the reason that you would like to be associated with AFT Michigan?
Answer: Well for many years there was no help for child care providers and when I heard about AFT Michigan I wanted to find out more about it. The other staff and I thought that it meant that we would have to belong to a union, and the owner would not want that. Well to my surprise I found out that it was more than that. I am in attendance today to really find out what it is all about.
Question: Did you bring other staff folks with you today?
Answer: Yes, Willie Stanley, Office Manager, and Candice Scamble, Pre-school teacher.
Question: So do you think that you and your staff can benefit from becoming an associate member of AFT Michigan?
Answer: I really do.
Question: In what ways do you think you will benefit?
Answer: Training, encouragement, and foremost to educate my staff and let them know that they are professionals in all that they do as teachers and childcare providers.
Question: If you had the opportunity to talk to other childcare providers what would you tell them?
Answer: I would tell them to be proud of their profession, and that they are the foundation for children to learn. If the foundation is laid correctly they will continue through attending colleges and universities.
